How to make Yo-Yo beads

Can anyone tell me if there is a tutorial out there on how to make Yo-Yo beads? I have attached a photo of a strand of them. They seem like two discs put together. These beads do not have holes in them, instead you wrap wire around the channel between the discs for making jewelry. I have looked high and low for information about how to make them without any luck. Any help or instructions would be hugely appreciated.

Just a guess, it looks like a small piece of boro heated on one end smashed flat then heat the opposite end and smash flat. If there is no hole for a mandrel that is my guess. Good luck
