offered an
N. M. KNIGHT
DRAGON FIRE BENCH BURNER, in Rare Stainless Steel*
Very Low Burn Time Special Mount Base #3 quiet piercing tip.
This is a truly rare find. You'll not likely see another Quite like it!
Very little burn time. Was Just re-assembled by Knight to correct torque specs etc. Unit is about 20 years old serial #92253 and was special ordered for Quartz.
I was impressed that Jack NM's owner had all this info on file per the serial #. apparently was one of those purchased and never used as the front of cone had just a slight tint of amber and with my less than 25 hours time it's turned as you can see darker. (The brown oxidizing JUST developed as was in my cold shop unlit for a few weeks will polish right off. I use nat gas and 3 oxy generators WHICH are also for sale!)
The base is the neatest I've ever utilized massive and highly adjustable.
From an UK Jennings Turret Burner adapted With a machined Fitting it's
Heavy, secure, balanced, Totally adjustable (up down side to side a tilt back or forward) photoed at lowest position can be raised about 1.5"just looks great!
**Unknown to most consumers Most cc type Burners are offered in Stainless for at least a 35% Higher cost and a LONG long wait!
Without being a paid endorser it's simply a better material in EVERY way but harder to machine shape cast etc. These same qualities make it longer lasting and more demanded in the quartz industry. For the artist
Means a lot more time without maintenance and less spitting of oxides into your pieces!
This is probably a #3 tip it's really tight and hot quiet as far as a pre-mix goes.
Overall Flame sizing about the same as an Carlisle or the old Sargants but the #3 tip MUCH more piercing and controllable than I've previously experienced.
I've it set set up with standard "B" inlets for 4 lines (pedal outer fire control) See pic 7 for the included heavy duty conversion hardware if you prefer 2 lines.
Valves are Knights own and superb smooth needle units!
Notice that the surface mix jets extend past the cone about 3-4 mm This baffled me and was why upon purchase from a collector I had it specked this summer by Knight.
It's a custom order! Idea is that upon a lot of hard use the jets can be re-surfaced at a fraction of the cost of a new main burner! This concept harkens to the old Sargents which in Only the stainless models had same arrangement.
In use though they produce a tighter and more controlled flame as I hope is shown In Photo's.
They're Are no bad cc torches as is an machining extensive endeavor to produce these. As an experienced flameworker (ala nicknamed Torchkid) be aware ONLY Knights are machined from stock not cast! And as such more expensive to built and less prone to leaks as well as excellently held to tolerances.
From above limited experience they're customer service and turn around on used products is superb.
I'm very active in the Lamp community I import those Gattling Gun looking turret torches from the UK (none available) Do a lot of modifying and contributing feedback to various builders etc.
am on F-book as WMCFlameworks if caring to visit.
