Previewing a CC Lampworkers Bench Burner, features a premix center fire and a surface mix multi jet outer, see pic's 6,7, and 8 for its range with just city gas and three 5 liter 02 generators. Excellent cond. not a Carlisle, Knight, or Bethlehem I believe it to be a late series Sargent in that it has modern Hoke needle valves* and is engraved at the body for correct lines. I used it for a couple of weeks while my ancient unit was worked on when I took it out of storage it was as new. Though to be honest if you push the center fire (to keep cool) these go for 1K of hours with no maintenance.
Incredible all brass casting, machining and valves*(see add info) very hot and quiet (for having a lg. centerfire) This unit is 98% new, but will not bid over 60% of a new one. A deal of a burner for sure.
* These are the premier of needle valves. Usually an expensive add-on. Hoke makes great smooth valves period. They are flanged for hose end adaption and unit came with two end nipple caps if you wanted to use a secure slip fit. The threading is standard for going to a 4 hose connector for pedal control etc.
The unscathed base is heavy and stable it has 4 machine screws going into a spring loaded cap a polished brass ball is pressured into a half dome. See pic 10. It realy works ! Tighten it and as though torch is 1 piece back off a half doz. turns burner head almost flops forward the actual correct tension quite easy to find per your use.
This design has been used for years and years some say late 40's with little or no changes except valves. Like the Fender Stratocastor it was just about perfect from conception. Many makers have come and gone this I am quite certain a sargent was probably the largest for 20 years, passing the torch (wordplay) to Carlisle and Knight. The workmanship on these is impecable as I hope my meager photos show. Many more importantly feel they have a superior cntr flame using a chamber as opposed to a threaded tube. Very hot and amazingly adjustable. I predict this design will still be the Industry standard in another 20 years.
As my nickname is Torchkid for last 35 years I am of these units quite impassioned. I've a couple doz. high end sales scan my feedback all appreciative. Working a lot these days on pedal systems and dual burners for an even wider heat range. My own sargent looks Frankensteinien lately ass't valves different diameter hoses pilot etc. This one is just to sano to start playing around with. Here it is on E-bay visit and review my feedback for other burner sales
